Let me ask you: How many real estate agents are there in your town or city? A few or hundreds? You’ll agree with me that they are from different brands but they all “look” the same to buyers and seller. They knock on my door, they drop junk in my post box, they phone me, they SMS me and they email me with new listings. They push me and they invade……..
What makes you different?
Well, I want to tell you that invasive marketing is dying a slow but sure death and many real estate agents are not aware of it. What I believe will be the difference is when you give the power to the user. In the user I mean the people who will do business with you. Let them find you and not the other way around. Let them find you and decide if they like you. And if they like you allow them to recommend you. Let them spread the message for you. But you need to give them the tools to do that.
Do you for one moment think they will take your post-box-junk and pass it on to a friend? No. I don’t think they will. But if you give them an interesting story will they pass it on?
Let me give you an example.
The other day I wrote a review comparing Hake and Chips at four restaurants in Simon’s Town. I placed the article on my blog and emailed it to my community list. The reaction was amazing. People could not believe that I had the courage to do it.
They thanked me, they praised me and they threatened me but the important thing is they talked about me. (As A Side Note: When you sit on the fence you have no friends). They could not believe that a real estate agent is also a human being. And I achieved what I wanted. These guys were able to easily pass the message because I had a blog.
